Larry D. Roeme
80 of Indianapolis, IN passed away on September 21, 2016. He was born November 27, 1935 in Mishawaka, IN, to William and Gertrude (Smith) Roeme. Larry married Delores J. (Nifong) Roeme, his high school sweetheart in November 2004. Mr. Roeme retired from the U.S. Navy after serving more than 30 years and receiving the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He also worked as a postman for the U.S. Postal Service. Larry graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1954. He was a member of the Mishawaka Alumni Association and the Lions Club. Larry enjoyed golf, reading, and talking with people. He loved the Colts and traveling to Hawaii. He is survived by his Wife, Delores Roeme; children, Larry Roeme Jr., Debbie Correia, Lori Fino,
And Lisa Kiser all of California; step-children Steven Cheh of Indianapolis, and Julie Perdue of Brentwood, TN; 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 step great-grandchild with 1 on the way. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gertrude Roeme; and siblings Joe Thomas, Margarite Kindy, and Jewel Johnson. Memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory-Stirling Gerber Chapel, 5950 E Thompson Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46237. Larry's ashes will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley's Children's Hospital by mail, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46202

Larry it doesn't seem as though a year has passed since your departure. I still think of you my friend. Remembering the times the three of us (you, me, and Steve Heddington) spent in Lemoore during our drill weekends. How we always called Steve our Mother Hen because he always had a reason why we shouldn't order that for dinner. Yes my friend I still think of you. Hope that one day we meet again.

You were a great friend in school and on Front and Spring Streets where we lived in Mishawaka. My wife Margie and My brother John (CPO ret). Are already there. Perhaps you will see them. I was looking forward to seeing you at the next class reunion. However, "Rest in Peace Chief", and I'll see all y'all bye and bye.

Larry and I served together in VFA-303 at Lemoore California. We were very good friends and often got together after he retired and I still continued in the squadron. We lost touch after he moved to Pismo Beach and I returned to Indiana. How I wish I had known that he returned to Indiana also. Rest in Peace my good friend. Mike Probst
