Helen R. Schilling Stafford
91, Indianapolis, IN. passed away November 15, 2016. She was born May 8, 1925 in Indianapolis, IN the daughter of the late Wilbur W. and Amelia M. (Langer) Grant. Helen was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Acton Chapter # 173 Order of the Eastern Star where she was Past Matron for three times, Delta Sigma Kappa Sorority, Kappa Chapter, Murat Music Men, served as secretary for 20 years, Democrat Precinct Committee Woman, 52 years retiring in 1998 and Smyrna Shrine Guild. Helen also worked as Executive Secretary for the Center Township Trustee for 21 years, retiring in 1987 and Marion County Voters Registration for 5 years. She is survived by her son, Toby Jay Schilling; step-son, Steven L. Stafford; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodger L. Stafford; daughter, Sue Ann Quinn; step-son, Kevin L. Stafford and sister, Nellie Drust. Visitation, 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at Wilson St Pierre – Stirling Gerber Chapel 5950 E. Thompson Road Indianapolis. Funeral, 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Zion United Church of Christ 8916 E. Troy Ave. Indianapolis, IN with visitation after 10 a.m. Entombment, Washington Park East Cemetery. Contributions: OES Chapter # 173 or Zion United Church of Christ.

Toby, so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother, Helen. Our mother, Louise (Bain) Totton was her very dear friend from the the time they were in their teens or early twenties. Your mother was a wonderful lady and someone that truly enjoyed life. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Janice Politan, Sue Merrell, and Jo Anne Linhart.
