Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Pat by adding your memories and photos.

Patricia "Pat" Nelson Thompson, 77, of Indianapolis, passed away January 20, 2017, surrounded by family. She was born August 21, 1939, to the late August and Ruth Nelson.
Pat retired from Hallmark after 20 years. Her favorite job of all was being a sister, wife, mom, grandma, buca, nana and aunt. She was also a faithful caregiver to her late-husband, Bill Thompson. She loved to travel and frequently looked for a new adventure. Pat was an avid gardener, collector of Hallmark ornaments, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also loved to entertain family at various functions from an annual Indy 500 party to holiday gatherings. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her loving husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Smith; her brother, Tom Nelson; and her sister, Bobbi Smith. Pat is survived by her daughter Rachelle "Shelly" (Rick) Lovett; her son-in-law, Dee Smith; her brother, Mike (Connie) Nelson; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Pat was one of the kindest, sweetest, most vivacious, loving, pleasant, enjoyable persons I've every known. The first time I met her, she gave me a big hug, something I was not used to, and I loved her ever thereafter. My favorite memory is when she asked Bill what he wanted on his sandwich for lunch, and he said, "Just put anything between two pieces of bread, and I'll eat it." She brought him a "pot-holder" sandwich! I'm glad she's dancing with her sweetheart again, although she will be terribly missed by everyone who met her. She was one of those persons who made life better for everyone. We will pray for all the family. We mourn her departure, but celebrate her arrival in Heaven! Dennis Tackett

Shelly, saddened by the news but know she is no longer suffering an illness there is no known cure. She is resting in the arms of God and enjoying all her wonderful memories. Although I did not know her, she raised a very caring and God-Fearing woman. Much love to you (and Rick).
