Jay Huston Calvan, age 55, of Indianapolis and Crawfordsville, passed away at his home on January 21, 2017 surrounded by his family.
Jay was born on June 6, 1961 in Beech Grove to Lonnie and Evelyn (Glaser) Calvan. He most recently worked for Penguin Random House in Crawfordsville, IN. Jay was known to be a collector of many things, but had a love of collecting bicycles.
Survivors include his parents, Lonnie and Evelyn Calvan of Indianapolis; his fiancé, Kathy R. Lowe of Crawfordsville; one daughter, Taylor Marie of Florida; one sister, Mary England of Linton; three brothers, Butch Ellis (Paula) of Indianapolis, Frank Ellis (Maria) of Indianapolis and Lonnie P. Calvan of Indianapolis; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Calvan family invites you to attend Jay's visitation at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Services and Crematory, Chapel of the Chimes, 1234 Prospect Street, Indianapolis, IN 46203, on Tuesday evening, January 24, 2017 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. The funeral will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Round Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Deeply sorry for the loss of Jay, my mom's fiancée. He was a great man, funny and sweet! He is now with our heavenly father watching over all of his loved ones. My mom is truly going to miss you Jay. I am glad I was allowed the opportunity to get to know you and hang with you and mom and that the lord allowed you into my mom's life and into our family. May you Rest in Peace Jay!

I worked with Jay a short time at Penguin Random House...he was always so nice, polite, & friendly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. He will be missed...so sad to hear that he had passed...my deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

While Jay was in Crawfordsville, I got to know him a bit as a neighbor. Very pleasant to talk to, will miss seeing him in the porch swing when spring comes. Condolences to his fiancé, family and friends.
