Condolence & Memory Journal

My dearest Aunt Elaine, I am so very blessed that you and my Mom were best friends since grade school. She brought you into our lives once she and Dad met and eventually married. You were family; always my Aunt Elaine. I have such fond memories of a childhood filled with laughter, joy and love and always seeing your beautiful, infectious smile! Oh and we must not forget the garage haircuts and even Mom bringing us to Eastgate while you were in beauty school! Mom scarred me by letting you cut my hair off and too this day it is now nearly to my waist and I struggle to cut any length off. You simply radiated light, love, and brought joy to the hearts of so very many over your beautiful time on this earth. I can't believe we have lost you, that Mom has lost her best friend; the sister she never had! She cherished your sisterhood/best friendship so very much! My heart not only breaks at the loss of such a beautiful selfless soul you were Aunt Elaine; for your wonderful family and friends but also for Mom losing her very best friend in this big old world. Sure Mom is strong as you well know but I will continue to worry about and pray for her throughout this most difficult time. Nothing ever truly prepares any of us for the loss of a loved one no matter the timing. I know you are up in heaven brightening it all up with your gorgeous smile and I know you will now watch over your family, friends, Mom and all those you loved and cared for here on this earth. May you rest easy now in eternal peace, love, light and healed for now you may continue you work as a guardian angel from heaven. You are going to be deeply missed, loved and cherished forever. Fly high with the angels ~ We <3 you aunt elaine>

I was a small wild hair little girl when I met Aunt Elaine. She came into my life when my dad met Melinda Castle(my step mother NOW). I had no clue then how funny and sweet she was going to be. Aunt Elaine was the type of person that was always good for a tons of laughs . And for me help get me in trouble if I wasn't there already. She soon became my HAIRDRESSER!!! Get her talking ..and well you had the shorest , prettiest , cut on the south side. She could perm like no other too. Aunt Elaine I haven't seen you in such along time. I'm so you have left us here on earth. But glad that your not suffering anything longer if you were.I know you leave behind many people who will miss you and love you. Howevwr the one I worry about the most is my step mom. Melinda Marshall. I hope GOD will take her in his loving arms and hold her when she needs it. I can't imagine the pain of loosing a best friend. I know the bond you two had was strong. Please watch over her, she thinks she is strong and she will yell everyone she is OK...but make her let people love her and hole her. Aunt Elaine fly high, and bright in the sky..

This is the saddest news. I remember Elaine from elementary school. She was one of my sister's best friends back in the day. My memories of her as a child was always laughing and smiling. Her light shined so bright. Condolences to her family.

Elaine was a giving, fun loving and compassionate person/friend-whom I have had the pleasure of having her in my life for 50 plus years.Elaine was not only my best friend-she was my confidant, and Godmother to my 3 children (Tony,Ryan and Brooke Bergman). You could not have asked for a better friend-She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She was a great and dedicated inspiration to the entire Fountain Square Community. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to Nancy, Roger and their families.I must say I have been in a state of shock since hearing of her passing on May 21,2017.I honestly can say I cannot imagine my life without her kind and generous smile and self-less personality.I am not only speaking for myself but for my family as well--which includes my Husband Bill and our children and Elaine's Godchildren-Tony, Ryan, and Brooke Bergman. I (we) can only hope you have found the rest and peace you deserve. I Love You My Friend, Sincerely, Diana (Kelly) Bergman

I remember Eliane, She worked at Southest Community Center and helped me obtain jobs with Resource Treatment Facility and a couple branches of The YMCA.Elaine was always very kind, helpful, and She looked forward to seeing me, She replied, You give me a good laugh. It saddens when Fellow Members Of Christ Die so young. I seen this and cried because She touched me and I knew She was one of Gods Children. God Bless All Whom She left behind and May Elaine Rest In Peace !!!!

Elaine was a true friend to all she met. She never complained what life had dealt to her but was always wanting to help others with their life circumstances. I could always count on Elaine having a smile and her pleasant conversation whenever I came into contact with her. I will miss her laugh and generous giving personality.

I know Elaine from High School. She was always kind to me. High School is a rough time with people trying to find their way Emotionally, etc. She was always an encouragement to everyone around her, and she said it with that smile and look of understanding. I know she will be greatly missed

Elaine was as compassionate as she was efficient in working with us at Factors where she was our administrative assistant for many years. I am so sorry that I didn't make the trip to visit with her again. What a wonderful woman!

Shocked & saddened to hear of Elaines passing. Growing up in Fountain Square everyone knew and loved her. She was always so kind and sweet. What a beautiful Lady inside & out. We need more like her and we could all definitely learn from her about how to treat people in general. RIP Sweet Lady

Elaine has been a life long friend of mine that it hurts me to my chore to miss. She was the Fountainhead of the Fountain Square revival. She never stop believing in this neighborhood and what it could become. She did everything in her power to protect and promote it into the vision we are only starting to see today. Elaine will be forever known as the St. Elaine of Fountain Square! RIH my Dear Friend!
