Condolence & Memory Journal

Hi ! I am Dawn ! My late parents George and Bernice Heistand used to take my five older siblings and I to Emanuel Baptist Church on Woodlawn Ave. ! This was years ago when we lived at Fountain Square ! My oldest sister Sharron talked to Paul M. May 18 , 2018 and he told her the sad news about George's passing ! When I was 9 - 1 / 2 years old Harry Mattingly who was the preacher at Emanuel and he baptized me there ! Paul M. took care of Mr. Mattingly years ago and I went to Mr. Mattingly's funeral and Paul was there too ! I do not know for sure if I ever met George T. ? Sharron Heistand my oldest sister knew George Taylor ! George Heistand my oldest brother knew George too ! My brother George H. said that George Taylor used to serve communion and was a deacon at Emanuel ! I do not remember him but my oldest sister and oldest brother remember a little about him ! May God give his family , friends , co workers and all who knew him strength in the passing of George Taylor ! Thanks

One off my best friends that I have met in this life, he truly is a good man and will be missed very much here in this life, His way of living here stills lives on.

Sorry to hear George,he looked pretty frail in the last pic you posted. Now he's with your mom and a lot of relatives and friends. Jerry Faubion

Great man, I can only say I'm a better person for knowing him. From his playful Halloween antics, his backyard basketball court and his back porch Juke box they welcomed all. You will be missed but I'm sure you are happy now once again with Mrs. Taylor

My favorite memory of George is his quick wit and being a ladies man. He would always out his hand out as is to shake hands then say, "it's like putting my hand in sugar".
