Tribute & Message From The Family

Jane Elizabeth Vanus, 56, of Indianapolis, went home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on March 17, 2020 after fighting a long battle with cancer.

Jane was born in Bloomington, Indiana on April 11, 1963 to John Mercer and Marilyn (Floyd) Bean. Her siblings are Tim (Melissa)Mercer, Tammy Brassard, Teresa Mercer, John (Dee) Mercer, Julie Seaford, and Nicole (Todd) Anderson.

Jane married the love of her life, Michael Vanus, on April 10, 1992. They built a beautiful family of 9 children, Ashley Jacoutot, Aj (Alishia) Vanus, Amanda (Cody) Luttrell, Chris (Rachel) Waltz, Jessica Vanus, Scott Waltz, Stephanie (Tyler) Wilson, Joe (Courtney) Waltz, Abby Vanus, and 16 grandchildren, Maya, Kaitlin, Matthew, Payton, Benton, Elaina, Shane, Quinn, Dean, Deacon, Briella, Scarlett, Logan, Oliver, Jolie, and Lane.

Jane attended Bloomington North High School. She worked at Job Corps for over 15 years.

Jane was a coffee lover who enjoyed shopping for her "treasures" at both antique stores and flea markets. She truly had a knack for taking someone else's trash and turning it into a beautiful treasure for her home. Most of all, she enjoyed any time spent with her family including boating, camping, and quiet time on the farm.

Jane loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, and gave glory to God through all her good works and through the many many lives she touched.
A private visitation will be held at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service on March 20, 2020. A celebration of life may be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Jane would like contributions to be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or The Huntington's Disease Society of America.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Beautiful inside and out, it's almost my birthday and I will miss the peonies she brought me every year. A positive and lovely addition to heaven.

Marilyn, though we've only known one another for a brief time I feel like you are someone I would so enjoy spending time with. Losing your daughter must be the hardest thing you've endured, certainly one of the hardest. She'll always be with you in your thoughts, reminded of her in the things she loved and best of all being part of the wonderful family she and her husband created. Just go with your feelings and let the tears fall whenever they appear, no matter where you are or with whom. Much love to you, Mary, your GR friend.
