This is a great picture of Mike, he always had that big smile. I was fortunate to meet Mike when we were in our 20's working together at the same company with other friends Bill Michaelis and Paul Lombardo. I had the opportunity to play basketball and softball with Mike and enjoyed many great times during and after games. As we all know, Mike was a great athlete. Very accomplished at everything he tried (7 hole in ones, wow!!). One of the last times I saw Mike was when he and Barb were on their way to a Roncalli football game where Roncalli was honoring the 50 year anniversary class of 1970. I commented to Mike that he looked like he could still suit up and play. I truly cherish the friendship and good times we shared. May Mike Rest in Peace!

Dear Barb and family,
I was so saddened to learn that Mike passed recently... being locker neighbors all through H.S. with him is still one of my best memories. He was always so kind to me. Then, years later seeing you both at a Homecoming game, it was great to hear how happy he was with your growing family and his wonderfully successful career.
While there are no words to take away the pain of your loss, may our prayers provide comfort in the days ahead.

So sorry for your loss. I have the sweetest memory bod Mike from grade school. Unsure what grade, but his mom came to pick Mike up after practice. When he got in the car, he always leaned over to kiss his little sister Tina. Revealed the tenderness and connection towards his sister. Very sweet.

I enjoyed shooting around with Mike at Mount Pleasant's Gym. Once he told me, during his high school playing days, the only time he ever missed a shot was when he was fouled! ;) Our condolences to the Grothe family.
