Obituary

Clara Catherine Vest Guyne

Clara Catherine was born on December 22, 1925 to Paul and Lela Vest in New Whiteland IN. She was a beloved older sister to Pauline, Louise, and Darlene. After Paul's death, Lela raised the four girls by herself thus providing an excellent example of what a determined and intelligent woman can accomplish, a trait that has always been visible in all four of her daughters. On February 12, 1944, Clara Catherine married Vernon Lee Guyne and they spent 54 wonderful years together raising 5 children - Michael, Victoria, Jeffrey, Teena, and Brian.
Clara Catherine was active in various organizations throughout her life including Brownies, Cub Scouts (as Den Mother), Rainbow Girls (as Mother Advisor) and Eastern Star in Crawfordsville, IN, where she served in several positions including Worthy Matron with Irving Bressie serving as Worthy Patron, PTA & PTO in Indianapolis, Shannondale Bethel Presbyterian Church in Shannondale IN, Red Cross volunteer at North Montgomery High School in the nurse's office, and Meals on wheels & RSVP in Bay County FL. She was a kind and compassionate soul who was known to help strangers and friends alike.
Clara Catherine's love of travel took her to many places including Italy, Germany, France, Hawaii, almost every state in the continental US, and every side street and back road across Indiana and the pan-handle of Florida. Her modes of transport included cars, vans, pickups, school buses, a camel, an elephant, a hot air balloon, a helicopter, a Piper Cub, a 3 engine prop airplane, A Harley Davidson, and numerous jets, trains, trolleys, trikes, and tractors. At all times, there was some kind of chocolate nearby.
On the evening of March 7, 2019, while watching a movie at home with 2 of her kids and Mr. Spock (the cat), she chuckled a few times, drifted off to sleep, and then passed quietly, gently and gracefully (with a piece of chocolate nearby).
Wilson St. Pierre at 481 West Main in Greenwood, IN, will be hosting services on Saturday March 16, 2019. Visitation will be from 2pm-4pm with a Celebration of her Life starting at 4pm. She always loved flowers but would definitely be honored if you volunteered your time to someone in need
