Colonel William Irvin Travis "Pete", 87, of Greenwood passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021, peacefully at home.
Pete was born in Beech Creek, Kentucky on September 28, 1934, a son of the late King Irvin and Praytis Viola (Penrod) Travis. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Cooper on September 12, 1959, in Evansville, Indiana and they spent 53 years together before she passed away in 2012. Pete and Carolyn were long-time residents of Greenwood, Indiana since 1978.
Pete was a Full Bird Colonel in the US Army Reserve, serving his country for 33 years altogether. He was a successful entrepreneur, he founded Computing Management, Inc. and operated the business until he retired.
Survivors include his children: William "Tom" (Thea) Travis, Terri (Gerald) Roper, and Tim Travis; grandchildren: Annavieve (Alex) Conklin, Victoria "Tori" Roper, Christine (Ross) Carlson, Alexandra Roper, Jacob Roper and William "Tom" Travis, II; a great-grandchild: Matilda Carlson; and a brother: Curt (Jane) Barrett (Captain, US Navy Reserve Retired). He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Carolyn Travis.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Tuesday, November 23 from 11am until the time of funeral services at 1pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, 481 W. Main St. Greenwood, Indiana 46142. Burial will immediately follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery.
