Donald "Don" Eugene Crawford

72, passed away on November 18, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones.

Don is survived by his wife Donna Crawford; daughters, Staci Crawford Morse (Husband, Brandon Morse), Jennifer Crawford Griffith (Husband, Troy Griffith); brothers George and Jim Crawford; grandchildren, Kendyl, Justin and Reese Griffith.

Don was born in Evansville, IN on April 22, 1946 to Eldon and Aline Crawford. He spent his childhood learning the ropes around the family farm, causing ruckus with his brothers and of course, walking to school in awful weather both ways…or so the story goes.

The Crawford family moved to Greenwood where Don graduated from Greenwood Jr./Sr. High School as one of the top 2 in his class. He always was a very smart cookie. He moved on to graduate from IUPUI with Bachelor's Degrees in both Political Science and English.

He spent 37 wonderful years working for Eli Lilly and Company starting in Creative Packaging and ending his career in Parenteral Technical Services. He traveled numerous places all over the world and saw many beautiful things along the way. He made lifelong friends working side by side with some of the best. After his retirement from Eli Lilly, he wasn't quite ready to hang it up just yet. He continued his Technical Services career at Baxter Pharmaceutical Solutions for 10 more years, coaching, mentoring and developing "the young'uns" as he called them. He often said the clients loved his gray hair which meant he was experienced. Little did they know, they had one of the best regardless of his hair color.

After retiring the 2nd time, he decided his days were better spent traveling with his wife Donna and taking golf trips with "his guys". He spent many days on the golf course contemplating life's events or harassing his golf buddies.

Don adored his family and loved being a dad, brother and grandpa. His family will miss his quiet advice, dry humor, IU sports commentary, and humble, giving nature.

By saying Don loved to read is probably an understatement. Reading was his way of relaxing, absorbing more knowledge, experience and life. His family has decided his love of reading was so important to him and the future of our children, we have opted to offer an alternative to give back. In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made in his honor to First Book transforms the lives of children in need by making brand-new, high-quality books and resources affordable and available to the educators and kids who need them most. has distributed over 175 million books in 30 countries.

Visitation will be Friday, November 23rd from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory at 481 West Main Street, Greenwood, IN.

A Celebration of Don's life will take place at noon on Saturday, November 24th at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory at 481 West Main Street, Greenwood, IN. A procession and final burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN.
