Obituary

Donald "Don" Gene Borski passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 3, 2021. He was born on July 13, 1939, to Donald Pierce and Mary Alice Long Borski. He was a 1957 Center Grove graduate that loved having fun in life. Don went to work at GMC Truck & Bus in Indianapolis after graduation in
September of 1957. He retired August 1991 but went back to work at the corporate office in Pontiac, Michigan in 1993 and worked another 5 years before permanently retiring. Don and Arlene then bought a motorhome and traveled for 17 years making lots of lifetime friends that he stayed in contact with the remainder of his life. He adored his great grandchildren and was known for the Papaw that could fix any broken toy. He had a great sense of humor and loved playing innocent jokes and pranks on friends.

Don was a Mason, Shriner and a Kentucky Colonel and belonged to multiple groups in the Shrine club. He was an active member of the Murat Shrine and Johnson County Shrine.

Preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Jennifer Borski, a brother, Steven Wenzel Borski, a sister, Kathleen Suzanne Borski Knaebel and a granddaughter, Anna Sharee Hyatt.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years Arlene Rose Gatchel Borski of Greenwood; his daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Ann Borski of Speedway and his son, Donald Kerry Borski of Indianapolis; brother, Thomas Anthony (Tony & Beverly) Borski; four stepchildren, Michael Joseph (Mike) Hyatt of Martinsville, Martin Oren (Marty & Debbie) Hyatt of Martinsville, Julianne Hyatt (Juli & Buster) Prine of Branson, Missouri and Mark Andrew Hyatt of Greenwood and nineteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.

A visitation will be on Friday, October 8th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main Street, Greenwood with a masonic service at 7:00 pm. A Celebration of life will be 11:00 am, Saturday, October 9 at Woodside Community Church 1811 S. Morgantown Road, Greenwood with visitation 1 hour prior. He will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery immediately following the service.
