Evalyn Y. Baker, age 80, of Whiteland, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday evening, February 10, 2018.
Evalyn was born on March 22, 1937 in Johnson County to the late Ray G. Price and Eula M. (Eaton) Price. She was a graduate of Decatur Central High School. On January 21, 1955, she married the love of her life, Keith Baker, who preceded her in death in 1998. Evalyn retired from Sears Corporation after 40 years of service. She was very active in Johnson County throughout the years in various clubs and organizations. She was a 4H Leader for Johnson County for over 25 years, a county and state judge for Fair's for 40 years, a member of the Purdue Extension Club and Emanon Club for over 55 years, was the Food Superintendent for the State Fair for 25 years, a member of The Loose Threads and Lost Needles Quilters Club, a member of the 50+ Club in Whiteland, a member of Christian Chapel Church in Morgantown, and a very proud member of the Red Hats Club. Evalyn enjoyed crafting, sewing, quilting, playing euchre and photography. She truly loved her family and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Survivors include her four children, Tonya Scott (Steve) of Columbus, IN, Jeff Baker (Pamela) of Whiteland, Keith Baker of Tennessee and Ronald Baker of Texas; two sisters Patricia Pedigo of Tennessee and Sue Robertson of Oregon; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Evalyn was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, Jerry Baker, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Evalyn will be held on Friday, February 16 at 10:30 am at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Thursday evening, February 15, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and again from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
