GREENFIELD- Frederick E. "Fred" Wolf, 96, a longtime Pendleton resident, passed away on April 24, 2018 at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield.
He was born April 25, 1921 in Owen County and was a Pendleton resident most of his life.
Fred was a graduate of Patricksburg High School and Purdue University.
He was a World War II Army veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart following his participation in Battle of Salerno during the invasion of Italy.
Fred retired from the South Madison Community School Corporation following 35 years of service as a teacher at Pendleton Heights High School.
He was a member of Pendleton First United Methodist Church and Madison Masonic Lodge #44 F.&A.M., Pendleton. He served as a volunteer at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Betty (Bair) Wolf and Audrey (Dillenbeck) Jameson Wolf.
Survivors include children, Steve (Joan) Wolf of Maineville, Ohio, Cynthia Wolf of Greenfield, and Dan Wolf of San Francisco, California; step-children, Peggy (Joe) Kines of New Palestine, John (Susie) Jameson of New Palestine, Bob (Jama) Jameson of Anderson, and Steve (LouAnn) Jameson of Pendleton; two grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and 14 step-great grandchildren.
Services at 1 p.m., Friday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton with Reverend David Ashmore officiating. Burial will take place in Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday at Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.
