Gary Douglas McElyea "Pap", 79, Indianapolis, IN went home to be with the Lord on Nov 24, 2020.
He was born in Lee County, Virginia on August 3, 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Edith McElyea, brothers John McElyea (Nona), Steve McElyea (Shirley) and sister, Sharon McElyea.
He is survived by his wife Bernadette, children: Lita Armstrong (Donald), Lori Scott (Steve), Timothy McElyea (Jennifer) and Gary Daniel McElyea (Velma). Siblings Mary Rollin (Bobby-deceased), Eddie McElyea (Jina), Kenneth McElyea (Sue), Judy Fuhr (Claude) and many nieces and nephews.

He was married to Bernadette for 58 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years, serving during the Viet Nam War as well as in the Philippines.
He retired from Citizen Gas & Coke, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1120, where he held the position of Quarter Master. He spent many hours serving veterans with the VFW in the many committees he served. He enjoyed coaching his kids in baseball and softball, and giving pointers and words of wisdom to his grandkids. He loved watching Colts football. He LOVED God and his family.
