Obituary

Jacqueline Ruth Rutledge Sisk

84, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died March 8, 2021 from lingering complications from Covid-19. Jacqueline was born on September 2, 1936, in Jasper, Ala., to the late Vernon and Eugenia (Otwell) Rutledge. She attended Walker County High School and Bevill State Community College. She worked as a PBX operator for the telephone company, as well as Jasper and Birmingham area hospitals, including Peoples Hospital, until her retirement.

Jacqueline was an avid fan of both the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Los Angeles Dodgers. She never missed a Saturday afternoon of college football. She enjoyed watching daytime soap operas, game shows, and movies. She loved music, especially Elvis Presley. Remarkably, she beat breast cancer twice - once in 1994, and again in 2008.

She is survived by her children, James David Sisk and Jacqueline Denise Sisk Holaday, son-in-law, Stephen Kent Holaday, Jr., grandchildren, Emma Katherine Otwell Holaday and Carter Rutledge Holaday, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother, Jerry Otwell Rutledge of Palm Springs, Calif.; aunt, Brenda Rutledge Nagle of Jasper, Ala.; and a host of beloved cousins and other family.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 14, 2021, from 1-5pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Franklin Township Chapel, 5950 E. Thompson Road, Indianapolis.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 1:00pm Wednesday, March 31, with a gathering from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home, 1200 Birmingham Ave, Jasper, Ala. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Jasper, Ala.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations to one of the following: The University of Alabama - Vernon and Eugenia Otwell Rutledge Endowed Painting Scholarship; Northside Baptist Church (Jasper, Ala.); or The Sarah Cannon Fund at American Cancer Society.

Masks are mandatory and are to be worn properly at all times.
