James "Jim" Ward Preddy

went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. Jim was born in Indianapolis, IN to Henry Nace Preddy of Indianapolis, IN and Selma B (Randolph) Preddy of Indianapolis, IN on July 1, 1945. In 1964 he married the love of his life, Marilyn (Goodman) Preddy and had 4 children together. After retiring as Secretary-Treasurer of U.F.C.W. Local 700 after a total of 43 years of service, he gave his life to Christ when he and his wife retired to Florida for 15 years and served Him for the remainder of his life. He served as a deacon at Berrydale Baptist Church in Jay, FL for several years before moving back to Indianapolis in 2018 becoming a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Greenfield IN. He loved his family dearly and always was available to help them whenever asked.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, of 56 years, his children Kimberly Anne (Chris) Harmon, James Brian (Leslie) Preddy, Charity Lanelle Crago and Nikki Jo (Mark) Harrison; 6 grandchildren, Wade Montgomery, Stevie Marie (Adam) Wilson, Trevor Preddy, Paige Preddy, Celia Crago, and Jacob Crago; and a sister Deborah Jean (Rick) Owens. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Linda Lou Rosebrock and many other beloved family members.
Services will be at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel 481 W. Main Street Greenwood, IN on Tuesday, February 4th. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Tommy Hensley of Bethel Baptist Church and Bro. Robert Gandy of Berrydale Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
The family wants to thank all those at the oncology center and the hospice center at Hancock Memorial Hospital for their devotion to his cancer care and hospice care. God Bless.
