Obituary

JERRY WAYNE PARK – Jerry W. Park, 81, passed away on Sunday morning, December 13th, 2020 at his home. He was born on July 18, 1939 in Wanamaker, Indiana, son of the late Charles Park, Jr. and Reba Jean (Pollard) Park.
He graduated from Franklin Central High School, Class of 1957 and served in the U.S. Army.

For over 4 decades, Jerry worked in the healthcare industry at the former Methodist Hospital campus caring for patients in the Operating Room, kidney dialysis center and post-op orthopedic surgery wing. He enjoyed working most with geriatric patients at Franklin Meadows (Senior healthcare) prior to his retirement.

Jerry loved to work with his hands. Over the years he created beautiful macrame pieces, hand crocheted afghans, and handcrafted pottery.
Jerry didn't know a stranger, loved to talk to everyone he met, and looked forward to getting together with his high school classmates twice a year. He loved watching basketball and supporting his favorite team at Indiana University.

Later in life, Jerry came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, became an active member of Franklin Central Christian Church and served until he could no longer attend due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He is survived by his only child, a daughter, Michelle (James W.) Massey of Greenfield, IN, four grandchildren – Reba (Will) Mount of Martinsville, IN, Rachel Massey, Rosalind (Roz) Mackenzie and William (Devin) Massey, all of Greenfield, IN, 2 great-grandchildren (Madison and Hayden Mount), his close, long-term companion, Larry Fuquay of Indianapolis, his only sibling, Georgeann Corbin of Louisville, KY, his only niece, Teresa (David) Hockenbury of Louisville, KY and 2 great nephews – Jesse Hockenbury of Highland Heights, KY and Jake Hockenbury of Louisville, KY.

A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, December 18th, 2020 at Franklin Central Christian Church, 4100 S. Franklin Rd, Indianapolis following visitation from 11:00 am–1:00 pm EST. Interment will be at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Wanamaker, IN.
