Karen L. Carl (Emerson), age 51, of Greenwood, IN, passed away at her home surrounded by her family Monday morning, March 12, 2018. Karen was born on June 27, 1966 in Johnstown, PA to the late Raymond Emerson Sr. and Carolyn (Mickey) Emerson. She was a 1984 Central Cambria graduate. On May 13, 1987, she married the love of her life, Alan Carl. After moving to Indiana, she started a daycare and watched children for 18 years. She also worked at Southwest Elementary as a teacher's aid. Karen loved spending time with her family, playing cards with her friends, and going on vacation, especially to St. Pete Beach. She enjoyed having a house full of guests to feed and care for and made every holiday and occasion a special one. She was known for being a loving wife, a caring mother, and a wonderful friend to everyone. She showed strength and grace through her journey and was an inspiration to many. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends. Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Alan Carl; her daughter, Jessica Roof (Justin); her son, Matthew Carl; her mother, Carolyn Emerson; two brothers, Raymond Emerson Jr. and Corey Emerson; two sisters, Eileen Smith and MaryLou Garland. She was preceded in death by her father. Funeral services for Karen will be on Friday, March 16 at 10:00 AM at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Greenwood Chapel. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4:00-8:00 PM and again from 9:00AM until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
