Greenwood, Indiana | Age 85

Kenneth ("Ken") Bradley Spencer, of Greenwood IN, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2021, peacefully in his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank E. and Ruth L. (Goble) Spencer. He was the youngest of seven siblings, Frank E. Spencer Jr, Rondal Spencer, June Caldwell, Margie Spencer, Helen Matoka, and Patricia "Patty" Spencer, all of whom also preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Mark E. Spencer (Jennifer), and grandsons Jake (Brynne) and Noah, all of Bloomington IN.
He was born and raised in Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield High school in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-59 and was a reserve until 1964 when he was honorably discharged.
He married Barbara A. McClure, from Republic KS, in 1962 and they spent the next 53 years living in Greenwood together until her death in 2015. They enjoyed a good life together, spending 40 years at the same residence until moving to Greenwood Village South. They were members of several bowling leagues in Greenwood and Franklin, and members of Greenwood Presbyterian Church.
He worked for the Internal Revenue Service for most of his adult life, serving in many different capacities. He retired in 1991 as a Disclosure Officer.
In his and Barbara's retirement, they took care of each other and their grandsons, who they thoroughly enjoyed when they came to visit. Kenneth spent many days rocking the boys to sleep when they were small and playing with them in the backyard as they got older.
The family would like to thank the staff of Greenwood Village South for their care of Kenneth during his final years.
Visitation will be Monday, November 1, 2021, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. Greenwood, IN. A celebration of life service will begin at 1:00pm.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Diabetes Association –
