Obituary

Larry Krause, 76, of Greenwood, IN passed away September 13, 2018.
Larry was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on December 12th, 1941, a son of the late Chris and Molly Krause (Fegler). He has a younger sister Kathy Grimaldi.
A proud Bearcat of Scottsbluff High School, Larry excelled in multiple sports achieving All-State Honors in Football and Basketball and was a member of the 1958 State Champion Football team. He continued his football and academic career at the University of Nebraska from 1959 to 1962. A proud player for the Huskers, he instilled his love of Husker Nation in his children and spent many Saturdays cheering them on to victory.
Larry married his High School sweetheart, Sandra Savage, on June 17, 1961 and they began their life's journey together. Their first child Julie was born in Scottsbluff, NE. Their first stop after college was North Platte, NE where Larry became a High School math teacher and coached football and basketball. His teams were always known for their tenacity and fight, something that they saw from their coach every day. His second child, Rob was born in North Platte.
Larry's career moved from teaching to the business world where he was employed by Mobil Oil for many years. His time with Mobil Oil brought the family to Kansas City, MO. His family then moved to Greeley, CO where his third child, Angie, was born. As his career progressed with Mobil, the family journeyed to Nashville, TN, Pittsburgh, PA and finally to Greenwood, IN. While in Greenwood, Larry and Sandy chose to make another career change moving into retail as an owner of the Radio Shack in Southern Plaza. After several years with Radio Shack, Larry and Sandy again made a move to become small business owners of a meat and seafood business known as S&L Distributors. After several successful years with this business, Larry felt the call to return to his first passion and re-entered the teaching field as a Math teacher and football and basketball coach at Perry Meridian Middle School where he ultimately retired from in 2006.
Larry was active in the Center Grove community as a coach of Little League Baseball, Lassie League Softball and Bantam Football. He was a member several churches in the Center Grove area and enjoyed Sunday mornings at his most recent church, Stone's Crossing Church. After retirement, Larry enjoyed spending time on the golf course, serving as President of Valle Vista Men's Club and fishing. He and Sandy became avid cruisers taking over 38 cruises all over the Caribbean and Pacific Oceans. Larry's pride and joy were his eight grandchildren: Austin, Ainsleigh, Bethany, Kaylee, Robyn, Jonathan, Gracie and Paityn.
Larry's wit and humor brought his family and friends great joy and laughter throughout his life. He became an avid Cubs fan in addition to enjoying all sports. Recently we most enjoyed him singing "Take Me Out to The Ballgame" and "Go Cubs Go" after a Cubs win. Larry will be greatly missed by his family and friends; however, we know he's already enjoying his time in heaven.
Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandy Krause. His three children Julie (Skip) Smith, Rob (LeighAnn) Krause and Angie (Joe) Marsh. Grandchildren: Austin, Ainsleigh, Bethany, Kaylee, Robyn, Gracie and Paityn. He is also survived by his sister Kathy (Carl) Grimaldi.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Jonathan Marsh.
