Obituary

Lori Lynn Young, age 57, passed away on Friday, September 14th in Cancun, Mexico with her family by her side. She spent her last day on earth on an adventure of a lifetime: four-wheeling through a jungle, zip lining high above the trees, and swimming in a crystal clear cave. She took her last breaths near the ocean, which was by far her most favorite place. Lori, a devout Catholic of Nativity Parrish, and a nearly lifelong resident of the south side of Indianapolis, was employed as a Guest Registration Associate by St. Vincent Heart Center for the past 12 years. She brightened and calmed the lives of many nervous patients and families in this role. Her natural ability to instantly connect with people never went unnoticed. She also held her previous roles with the airlines near and dear to her, as she loved to travel.

In her personal life, Lori was the life of the party. She had an unwavering sense of humor, a beautiful smile, and the kindest heart one can have. She was the ultimate gift-giver, literally. She never let anyone come into contact with her without receiving a present at some point. She had an overwhelming love for children, as her grandchildren meant the world to her, and for animals, especially dogs. She kept a zoo at home, according to her family. Lori was a breast cancer survivor, which she fought hard to overcome. Her family and friends could not have been more proud of her.

Lori was preceded in death by her beautiful mother, Joan Gootee, her fathers, Harry Parrish and Les Gootee, her children, Cole Young, Callie Young, and Baby Young, her brother, Steven Parrish, and her grandparents, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her pets who have passed away also awaited her arrival into heaven.

Lori is survived by her very large family, including her compassionate and loving husband, Bob; her beloved children, Megan Roberts (Michael Fields), Brandon Roberts (Olivia Roberts), Robbie Young (Anahi Young), and Hallie Young; her step-children, Lori Young (Justin Reddick), Tim Young (Jennifer Young), Shelley Pierce, and Jim Young (Kristin Young); her 17 precious grandchildren, Kameron, Tyler (m. Anjelina), Lola, Ava, Luke, Alivia, Dominic, Aidan, Teagan, Lilli, Lenox, Nadia, Holden, Vera, Reese, Cooper, and June; her sister, Jenni Boggess (Jeff Boggess); her niece, Sara Gibson (Louie Gibson); her puppies, Libby, Lucy, and Sophie, along with her cats and many chickens ("the girls"); and her numerous other family members and friends. The love felt for Lori is truly immeasurable.

Lori's celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 23, from 1pm-4pm as a visitation at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, 481 W. Main St. Greenwood, IN 46142. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society and/or The Humane Society of Indianapolis would be greatly appreciated. If you choose to send flowers, please know that red was her absolute favorite color.
