Greenwood, Indiana | Age 83
Mary Jane Blaase
83, of Greenwood, IN passed away Monday August 29,2016 and has joined her Beloved Husband of 56 years and best friend Loren who has been eagerly awaiting her arrival. Jane was born February 21, 1933 in St. Francisville, IL to Frank and Margaret McCormick. She was an only child who made no secret of her status of being rather spoiled. However, Jane had several cousins such as Margaret Ray and Mary Carol to enjoy many great times and cherished memories.
Jane attended Eastern Illinois University where she was a member of Tri Sigma Sorority. While at Eastern she met the love of her life Loren Blaase whom she wed in June of 1953. While her main priority was raising her three children, she was very active in her community where she was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church. A few of Jane's activities included, The United Methodist Women's Club, The Republican Party Women's Club, The Greenwood Women's Club and numerous Bridge Clubs. Jane was an accomplished Bridge player winning championship after championship over a span of several years. She also worked with the Greenwood License Branch.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Margaret McCormick, husband Loren and daughter Lucy Mouser. She is survived by her sons Stan Blaase (Laura) of Indianapolis and Doug Blaase of Granger, IN. Other surviving family members are grandchildren Andrew Mouser (Terri) of Parkland, FL, Carrie Sciberras (Manny) of Tampa, FL, Elizabeth Stredney (Matthew) of Naperville, IL, Sarah Maxwell (Robert) of Morton, IL, Molly Jane Blaase of Brooklyn, NY and Doug Blaase of Indianapolis. She is also survived by Great Grandchildren Charlie, Oliver and Henry Mouser. Aaliyah and Aiden Sciberras and many cousins and friends. Jane and Loren's biggest source of pride is the fact that all of their grandchildren, despite growing up far apart from each other by distance, are incredibly close and get along so well speaking with each other on a regular basis and still getting together when at all possible. Jane and Loren ensured this by taking them all on a yearly summer vacation to South Haven, Michigan where they spent the entire time together. Jane also made sure they spent a week together at their house on Beech Park Drive to attend a week of Bible Study together. During these trips they formed the special bond that their grandparents envisioned.
