Peggy Dean (Hofer) Dallmann, 63, of Fishers, Ind., died suddenly on Nov. 26, 2016, at IU Health Saxony Hospital in Fishers as a result of a burst aorta.
She was born May 4, 1953, in Anderson, Ind., the first child of Peggy Y. (Richey) Hofer and Henry H. Hofer, Jr., each of whom preceded her in death. She also was was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra D. Hofer; her maternal grandparents, Ruth and Erville Richey; and her paternal grandparents, Beatrice and Henry H. Hofer, Sr.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Richard Dallmann, of Indianapolis; a son, Nicholas A. Dallmann and his wife Laura Stonehill of Los Alamos, New Mexico; and two grandchildren, Andrew and Catherine. She is also survived by a sister, Janie D. Ross and her husband Kevin Ross of Kettering, Ohio, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends in Indiana, Arkansas and throughout the country.
Peggy graduated from Pendleton Heights High School in 1971, and she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ball State University in 1976 with a bachelor of science degree in journalism. She also graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis in 1995.
Peggy had careers in both journalism and law, working as a reporter and eventually managing editor at the Topics Newspapers in Indianapolis, as an intern in the Capital Punishment Unit of the Indiana State Public Defenders Office, as deputy attorney general in the Indiana Attorney General's Office, and as an assistant corporation counsel in the Indianapolis Office of Corporation Counsel. She also spent a few years in private practice with Harrison & Moberly in Indianapolis. Always an avid reader, she discovered her passion for writing fiction later in life.
Services will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Friday, December 2, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home in Pendleton, Ind., with calling from 4:00 P.M. until time of services.
