Obituary

Robert George "Bobby" Lowe of Wanamaker, Indiana passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2021. He was 57 years old.
Bobby was born May 11, 1964 to Albert Russell and Eleanor Marguerite (Moore) Lowe at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Indiana.

Bobby attended RISE Learning Center from 1971 to 1984. Following graduation in 1984 from RISE, he attended a sheltered workshop doing hand assembly work known as Southside Work Center that was organized by parents to bring together special needs individuals and jobs they were qualified to complete, and to be paid for their work performed. Bobby was thrilled receiving a paycheck, it provided enjoyment to him and he enjoyed being with his friends. Southside Work Center later became known as Handi-Capable Hands. In 2016 Handi-Capable Hands became Easterseals Crossroads and Bobby attended adult day services there until January 2021.

Bobby enjoyed his family, liked going out to eat especially to McDonald's or Chick-fil-A. He enjoyed bowling and had participated in Special Olympics Bowling. He enjoyed the simple things in life such as collecting paper, sneaking bananas and orange soda from the kitchen, shirts with pockets, folding laundry, talking about David's motorcycle (even though he was too scared to go for a ride). He was always the life of the party, putting a smile on people's faces wherever he went especially wanting to give everyone hugs and kisses as there was no such thing as a stranger to him. He was always excited to see a friend and would show that with the biggest hugs every time. Before the pandemic, he rode every weekday Indy Go Open Door Bus to get to the work center and was always sure to remind everyone that he needed his bus money. He attended the special events at The Creek church that were designed for special needs individuals through their Access Ministry program. Bobby has been an inspiration to everyone he met and we have learned from his unconditional love.
He was a member of Franklin Central Christian Church.

Bobby is preceded in death by his father Albert R. Lowe. He is survived by his mother Eleanor Marguerite (Moore) Lowe; sister, Mary Ann (Lowe) Gerth, and husband Philip J. Gerth; nephews, David (fiancée Ellen Line), Jonathan, and Steven Gerth, and half-siblings, Brenda J. (Lowe) Tierney and Nancy A. Lowe along with their families.

The family wishes to extend a special "Thank You" to Franciscan Home Health nurses, Kristen and Hope, to Franciscan Hospice nurses, Velissa and Liz, and to Dr. Michael Mooney and his team of resident doctors for the exceptional care that they provided to Bobby.

The family suggests that contributions be made to Easterseals Crossroads, 3215 East Thompson Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227. Please include "Bobby Lowe" on the memo line or the designation "ESC Adult South". You may also donate to Franklin Central Christian Church, 4100 S. Franklin Road, Indianapolis, IN 46239 in Bobby's name. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

A visitation for Bobby was held on Tuesday, November 30 from 4-8:00 PM at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Franklin Township Chapel. Funeral services were Wednesday, December 1 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with burial at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Wanamaker.
