New Whiteland, Indiana | Age 73

A Life Well Lived
Our beautiful mother, Suzy Bowers Faulkner, passed away on June 14, 2019 with her loving family by her side. Suzy was born in Johnson City, Tennessee on July 12, 1945 to Eugene and Louise Bowers. She obtained an associate's degree from Lincoln Memorial and a bachelor's degree from IUPUI. She married her high school sweetheart, Virgil Faulkner, and they were blessed with their daughter, Kerri and son, Matt. Virgil preceded Suzy in death in 2006.
Suzy worked as the Director of Page Office, "Page Mom," at the Indiana House of Representatives, worked proudly for Governor Orr and was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash. Suzy moved on Bose McKinney & Evans and became their Human Resources Director. She completed her fulfilling career at Kightlinger & Gray as Director of Human Resources, retiring in 2015.
Suzy was an active member of the Association of Legal Administrators, serving on the Board of Directors and on multiple committees. She is the namesake of the annual Suzy Faulkner "Now is Now" Award.
Suzy fought cancer bravely for 25 years. She was a strong supporter of awareness programs for breast cancer and metastatic breast cancer. She was a zealous advocate and provided support to many others fighting breast cancer, cheering them on and providing them hope. She was a mentor and inspiration to everyone she met, and even inspired those who merely heard her story.
For the past seventeen years, Suzy designed the survivors' medals for Race for the Cure events. Suzy also participated in numerous fundraising initiatives. She was honored with the Debbie Wills Survivor Koman award, the Indiana Pacers Indiana Hero Award and the New Balance Honorary Survivor award.
Suzy leaves behind her daughter Kerri Faulkner Hartwell and son-in-law Josh; her son Matt and daughter-in-law Karissa and her beautiful and precious 14-year old granddaughter Kira. She is also survived by her mother Louise Bowers and sister Sandy Greene. Suzy "Granzie" will be sadly missed. Her love and her smile, her jokes and her contagious laugh will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Suzy's life will be held at Wilson St. Pierre in Greenwood, Indiana on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Suzy's family asks that donations be made to METAVIVOR Metastatic Breast Cancer Research, Support and Awareness, ( an organization very dear to Suzy.
