Obituary for Thomas J. Carson

August 22, 1945 - April 13, 2021
Beech Grove, Indiana | Age 75

Thomas J. Carson of Beech Grove, Indiana, passed suddenly at the age of 75 surrounded by his family. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart leaves a beacon of light for all.

Tom was the third son born to Frank and Dess Carson. Growing up, he attended Holy Name Catholic School and loved having Beech Grove Park as his stomping ground. He graduated from Scecina in 1963. After graduation, he attended trade school and became a Sheet Metal worker for Union Local 20, where he worked for 40 years. Shortly thereafter, he met his love, Mary, and got married in 1966. The two were blessed with four children. Tom lived life to the fullest never missing a game or a party. Always available with words of advice, a helping hand, or a cold beer, Tom had a way of even making deck building fun. His hardworking nature, methodical thinking, and meticulous work was passed down first hand. With Tom, you knew you had a wing man to talk you through any project. As life progressed, 10 grandkids were added, each bringing more joy, sparkle, and entertainment to his life including the addition of Allison and Nick. Tom found immense joy in cheering on each and every kid/grandkid be it volleyball, baseball, lacrosse, soccer, football, theater, or even wrestling. Nothing brought a bigger or brighter smile to his face than his family. Through everything Tom never lost his faith in God. He will forever be missed and a hole has been left in our hearts.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Carson; children Gretchen (Mike) Miller, Gina (Joe) Hansen, Frank (Jen) Carson, and Nancy (Ben) Hermann; Grandchildren Megan, Eric, Maria, Sam, Tommy, Nick, Mallory, Luke, Lucy, and Gus; brother Jim (Sandy) Carson; sister-in-law Nita Carson. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Modesta (Dess) Carson; Parent-in Laws George and Lucille Slaymon, and Brother Bud Carson.
