Obituary

Vincent John Sheehan, 65, of Greenwood, IN passed away at unexpectedly but peacefully at home on September 18th, 2018. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Jeanne (Donahue) Sheehan, sons Rob and Kevin, mother Joan (Kaltenbach) Sheehan, aunts Mary (Kaltenbach) Bromstrup and Josephine (Powell) Sheehan, siblings Kevin Sheehan (Nancy Conway), Mary Horton (Ron), Ceil Sheehan, Maggie Sheehan, Genny Short, Dawn Cox (Darren), and Tony Sheehan.

A prolific golfer, Vince caddied to pay his own tuition to Cathedral High School ('71) and earned a full-ride scholarship to Indiana University through the Evans Scholars program. He worked as a golf caddie, pipe-layer, collector, bank teller, and director, before serving as the CIO and Associate Dean of IT at Indiana University for the last 16 years. He volunteered his time and talents to his home parish of Our Lady of Greenwood, serving on the parish council, coaching his sons' basketball teams, and sponsoring the fried chicken dinner at the annual Summer Festival. He loved history, politics, literature, questionable puns, the Indianapolis Colts, Oscar Wilde, science fiction, and all things Irish; most of all, he loved his family, both immediate and extended, and devoted his life to taking excellent care of them.

He was close to sisters-in-law Kathy Chilenski (Walt), Judy Donahue, Dianne Rossman (Ed), Patty Ciresi (Jerry), Stephanie Whitmore, and brothers-in-law Terry and Tim Donahue. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sheehan, Uncles Howard Kaltenbach, Bill Sheehan (Frannie), Fran Sheehan (Lois), and Joe Sheehan (Josephine), brother-in-law Ed Rossman, and sister-in-law Shari Donahue.

His many nieces and nephews include Cagney Sheehan (Lauren), Genna Short, Kaleb Short, Patrick Ryan Sheehan, Amy Riley (Mike), Kelly Conway (Jennifer), Dan Conway, Kathy Conway, Daniel Sheehan, David Chilenski (Sarah), Ellen Woerner (Mike), Anne Tampow (Rick), Laura Starr (Andrew), Joe Ciresi, Andrew Whitmore (Jenny Schmidt), Vanessa Whitmore, and Mitchell Donahue. His great-nieces and great-nephews are adorable and far too numerous to count.

A viewing will be held at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church on Friday, 9/21 from 6PM-9PM. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Greenwood on Saturday, 9/22 at 11AM, followed by interment at Calvary cemetery. Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory has been entrusted with all services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Philip Neri parish in Indianapolis, or to the Evans Scholars Foundation.
