Warren E. Beville, 93, passed away Friday morning in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Greenwood.

He was born February 25, 1924 in Indianapolis to Ernest H. and Charlotte (Hannefey) Beville. He grew up in Huntington, IN.

He married Helen (Land) Beville in 1946. Survivors include three sons, Michael and Sandy Beville of Blythewood, SC, Jeffrey and Debbie Beville of Greenwood, Richard and Dianne Beville of Oak Hill, VA; one daughter, Marijo and Gary Checkeye of Greenwood; nine grandchildren, Dr. Christine and James Myers, John and Susie Beville, Brad Beville, Ryan Checkeye, Tyler and Hannah Checkeye, Kirk and Melissa Beville, Brian and Elaine Beville, Evan and Diondra Checkeye, and Cole Beville; and eight great grandchildren, Andrew, Joshua, Joseph, Hannah, Patrick, Brody, Riley, and Bryce.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Miles Beville; and a sister, Margaret Beville.

Warren was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served in navy radio intelligence. After his Navy duty, he was employed by Indiana Bell Telephone Company for 37 years, retiring as an outstate district plant engineering manager.

Warren and Helen moved to Greenwood in 1952. He was active in the community in civic and church activities, as well as youth activities.

He organized and was the first President of the Greenwood Little League, first President of the Babe Ruth League (now Senior League), served on the board of the Lassie League, and helped organize basketball for kids at the Community Building in Greenwood.

Warren was elected to the first school board for Greenwood Community Schools in 1967, serving four terms.

He was awarded the Greenwood Jaycees "Good Citizen Award in 1970; Jaycees "Man of the Year" award in 1972; Greenwood Little League Baseball Award in 1996 for 40 years of service; and the Sertoma Club of Greenwood "Service to Mankind" award in 2000. He was also a 50 year member of Greenwood Masonic Lodge #514, F. & A.M.

His community service extended to assisting the city of Greenwood. He was a Precinct Committeeman for 8 years, Zoning Board for 14 years, and Board of Works and Safety for 12 years. He worked the polls for over 20 years.
Warren was a member of the Community Church of Greenwood, where he had served as an Elder and a Deacon for many years. Later in his life, he was member of Southland Community Church in Greenwood.

Visitation hours will be from 11-1PM, Tuesday, at Southland Community Church, 5800 W. Smith Valley Road, Greenwood. Dr. Charles Lake and Rev. Steve Schellin will officiate a Celebration of Warren's life at 1PM. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
