Wayne Ernest Fansler

91 of Franklin passed away November 10, 2018. Wayne was born in Shelby County Indiana on August 29, 1927 to Roy C. and Mollie Howery Fansler. He married his loving wife of 69 years, Norma Grubb on August 8, 1946 in Shelbyville, who preceded him in death in 2015. Wayne is survived by daughters Carol Burbank of Tucson, AZ, Karen (George) Yeager of Westport, WA, and son Gary (Sue) of Quincy, Il; 4 grand-children and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Weldon, Merle and Marion. Wayne was a veteran of the Air Transport command 1945-46.

Wayne was a graduate of Indiana Central College and Ball State University. He was a teacher and coach at Fairland, Mt. Auburn, and Desoto High Schools; Principal of Roann Elementary & High School; Guidance Director at Northfield High School; Athletic Director at Whiteland High School; and Guidance Director of Edinburgh High School for a total of thirty-nine years before retiring in 1989. Wayne touched hundreds of lives during that time and will be remembered for his encouragement to students to further their education.

He and Norma loved to travel, having visited all 50 states and Europe, and to tour in their Model A Ford. Wayne and Norma were charter members of the Mid-Hoosier Model A's and members of the Model A Restorers club of Dearborn, Michigan.

Wayne was a 60+ years member of the Masonic Lodge and a Past Master of Roann Masonic Lodge and a member of the Jubilee Masonic Lodge #746 F & AM, Whiteland, IN. He was a member of the Indianapolis Scottish Rite where he was a cathedral tour guide for 24 years. He is a member of the Franklin Grace United Methodist Church.

He was a well known ISHAA Track official for more than 60 years, having started the State High School Track Meet and Cross Country Meet in 1987.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 15 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel 481 W. Main Street, Greenwood, IN. Jubilee Masonic Lodge #746 F & AM will conduct a Masonic service at 6PM, Thursday, at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Friday, Nov. 16 at the funeral home with calling 1 hour prior. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin, IN.
