Wilma Irene Clodfelter

passed peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at 11:30 a.m. Greenwood Village South Retirement Home in Greenwood, IN. She was 96 years old.

Wilma was born April 30, 1924, in Russellville, IN, to parents William and Grace Rutledge. She was married to her high school sweetheart Donald Clodfelter March 30, 1947.

Wilma graduated valedictorian from Russellville High School in 1942 and then attended Indiana Business College. Her biggest accomplishment was raising four children, her church work, and her volunteer work with Fletcher Place, Methodist Hospital White Cross Guild, and Goodwill. She loved her family. She a member of Forest Manor United Methodist Church and then later Center United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.

Wilma's children include: Darrel Jay Clodfelter, killed in action in Vietnam, Diane Sue VanCleave, husband Jim; Dean Kenneth Clodfelter, wife Monica; and Denise Jill Weidert, husband Steven; and brother-in-law William Clodfelter, wife Thalia. Wilma has 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She has been preceded in death by her husband, Donald Clodfelter, her sisters Phyllis Rutledge and Lois Klein. her son Darrel Clodfelter, and her great grand-daughter Emmy Kreigh. Wilma was known for her welcoming smile, her stone-cold detail for dates and events, and her dedication to the welfare of her children and her community.

She will be buried at Hebron Cemetery in Russellville, IN. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Hebron, located on Google Maps ( (Hwy 231 to Hwy 236 to Road 650-W [12001 N. County Road 650W]). COVID precautions for the service: masks and social distance. For those who cannot attend, Facebook Live will be provided under Diane Sue VanCleave in Facebook.
